Through Confirmation and through the reaffirmation of our faith, we renew the covenant declared at our baptism, acknowledge what God is doing for us, and affirm our commitment to Christ's Holy Church.
In Confirmation, each person takes a hold of God's promise through Jesus Christ. Each person has the opportunity to "confess Jesus Christ as you Savior...".
Here we have a two-year process typically beginning in seventh grade. We grow together in our understanding of the Biblical Faith and strive to grow into the faith and strength of God's promise. The Apostle's Creed forms the larger outline of our content and we work to have each Confirmand answer truly for his or her self, "Do you believe in God the Father?...Do you believe in Jesus Christ?...Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?"
Each week, through the school year, confirmands meet in small groups led by faithful mentors. After talking, praying and looking into the Bible on a given subject, all of the small groups gather to meet with our Pastor to pray and talk about any lingering questions. We encourage the confirmands to ask any questions on a slip of paper and put them into the Question Box.
Confirmation Sunday is a wonderful celebration marking formal commitment of taking responsibility for our own faith and the faith of others (even within our human fraities). Again, we take seriously the answer to the question, "Will you nurture one another in the Christian faith and life and include one another in your care?"
